‎Toke Makinwa Reflects On Her 30s, Advises Ladies Against Marrying In Their 20s 

‎‎Media personality Toke Makinwa is reflecting on her 30s.

‎‎While speaking with Big Brother Naija ex-housemate Tacha on the latest edition of her podcast, Tacha described her 30s as the worst years of her life, saying she doesn’t want to go back to them.

‎Toke revealed that she spent her 20s with just one man and wished she explored more before he gave her the experiences. She admitted that she wasn’t innocent and is glad she didn’t have a baby in her 30s.

‎‎“I don’t want to go back to my 30s; they were the worst years of my life. I spent my 20s with just one man, but I wish I had explored more because he gave me the experiences. I wasn’t innocent, and I’m glad I didn’t have a baby in my 30s”.

‎‎Still, on the podcast, Makinwa advised women against marrying in their 20s. She explained that at that age, they don’t know themselves, noting how those who got married at such an age regret it now.

‎“Women have no business getting married in their 20s. You don’t even know yourself yet. Those who did are regretting it now”.

‎‎A few days ago, the former OAP, on her podcast, said she struggles to understand what women mean when they say they financially support a man. Makinwa said that if she dates a broke guy who earns N5,000, he must give her N3,000 from it, or she will ghost him.

Her statement didn’t sit well with netizens, and she was heavily criticised.

‎Addressing the backlash, Toke claimed her statement was a joke, clarifying that she had never believed that a person’s bank account should measure love or how much a man can give financially. She said she respects and believes in the beauty of two people who genuinely love each other, work hard, support one another and build life together.

‎‎On the MENtality podcast, Toke shared her thoughts on transactional relationships, saying she believes they are all transactional. Makinwa also said she believes people should date within their income bracket, arguing that financial differences can create challenges in relationships.

‎‎Toke Makinwa had advised ladies in relationships to marry the man who calls after an argument to make sure they are okay. Makinwa stressed that one should choose a partner who stays when things get difficult and seeks understanding rather than trying to win every argument.

‎‎After welcoming her first child at 40, the former OAP shared screenshots of messages she received from trolls, noting that no matter how far a woman rises in her career, society still glorifies things that haven’t happened to her yet. She noted how marriage is now a yardstick for fulfilment, and admonished her gënder not to underestimate the power of negativity.

‎On her podcast, the former OAP broke down in tears as she reflected on her trials, revealing that she prayed to God to turn 40 as a mum. She said that God answered her prayers as she got pregnant the next month after her 40th birthday.
