Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has shared her experience working with the late Mr Ibu and Francis Odega.
In an interview with Pulse, she reminisced on one of their old movies together, noting how the actors didn’t follow the script. Jombo said she was lucky to be a spontaneous actor because, half the time, Ibu and Francis threw her off.
According to her, the legendary actors were going off the script, and if she weren’t prepared, she wouldn’t have known what to do. Uche added that if one is working with the actors, they have to come prepared.
“First of all, those two actors don’t follow the script. On this set, I was so happy I am a spontaneous actor because half of the time, they were throwing me off. Like saying what was not written, and if you’re not prepared, you’ll be like, “Where are we?” What are we doing?
“If you’re working with Frank Odega and the late Mr Ibu, you’ll prepare yourself most times,”says Uche.
Filmmaker, Chinney Love recently gave Uche Jombo her flowers, praising her for her performance in Uche Jombo’s upcoming movie and saying she has been in awe of her. She said she doesn’t know if anyone plays the African mother role better than she does.
Similarly, Ruth Kadiri sang the praises of Uche. Kadiri described her as her mother, noting how she has been there for her even before she became. Ruth said Uche taught her how to be there for others and promised to love her forever and to cherish her.
While celebrating her 45th birthday in 2024, Uche Jombo revealed that she was tested in ways she never imagined. However, she was grateful to be standing stronger. She expressed gratitude to everyone who stood by her and reminded her of the beauty of the fight.
