A Kaduna South senatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joseph Almajiri Ciroma, has stepped down and declared support for Senator Sunday Marshall Katung’s second term bid.

In a statement issued by Ciroma on Monday, he said his decision to quit the race for Senator Katung was borne out of patriotism, team spirit, sportsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to the unity of the APC family in Southern Kaduna.

Ciroma however called on his supporters across the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, to equally support Katung for the actualisation of his second-term bid.

The statement said, “I Engr. Ciroma Almajiri Joseph (Hasken Southern Kaduna) wishes to formally announce my decision to step down from the Kaduna South Senatorial District aspiration under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to throw my full support behind the incumbent Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK), in his quest for a second term”

Ciroma added, “This decision is borne out of patriotism, team spirit & sportsmanship, political maturity, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to the unity of the APC family in Southern Kaduna. My long-term relationship with SMK, which has spanned over 35 years, cannot be jeopardized by my political ambition; hence, the need for me to fully throw my weight behind his second-term aspiration.

“This strategic decision is informed by the need to consolidate the gains already recorded in Southern Kaduna, the current administration of President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani, and Distinguished Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung (SMK), particularly the realization of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, and other ongoing people-oriented interventions across the District” he said.
