Army Neutralizes Bandit, Recovers Arms, Ammunition In Kaduna

The 1 Division Nigerian Army reported on Wednesday a successful operation resulting in the elimination of a bandit and the recovery of arms and ammunition in Sabon Birni, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, disclosed in a statement that the incident occurred on December 17 during a troop ambush targeting bandits in the region.

The troops seized one AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, a baofeng radio, and two tecno phones during the operation.

Yahaya further revealed another sting operation conducted along Dende-Buruku Road in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on December 15. During this encounter, several bandits fled with gunshot wounds, but the troops managed to retrieve an AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with four 7.62mm (special) ammunition.

Maj-Gen Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding the Division and Force Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their unwavering commitment and resilience during the operations.

He urged the troops to sustain their efforts in denying bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements the freedom to carry out their nefarious activities.
