The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has formed an alliance with the Obedient Movement to strategise for Peter Obi’s victory in the 2027 general election.

This was made known at a press conference at the ADC office in Owerri, geared towards preparation on how to integrate the Obedient Movement into the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Receiving the group, the state chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, stressed that the meeting was “crucial as it will avail opportunities of deepening opposition collaboration and broadening reform-oriented political participation across the state.”

Okoroma highlighted that part of the discussions centered on partnership, grassroots expansion, and integration of the movement into the party’s structure statewide.

He revealed that the party is consolidating its position as a people-focused opposition platform, driven by transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

Prof. Okoroma noted that there is a rising wave of public interest in the party from civic groups and politically conscious citizens seeking a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎The ADC state chairman, assured of healthy collaboration, indicating that the party has established frameworks to ensure a smooth and coordinated integration of new entrants both at the LGA and state levels.

‎Prof. Okoroma explained that the party is strengthening grassroots network, expanding youth and women engagement, and coordinated political strategy, placing them in a competitive position within the state’s opposition landscape.

He said, ‎”ADC is committed to working with reform-driven movements and citizens who share its governance ideals. The party leadership is focused on building a formidable and disciplined political structure across the state.”

‎

In his contribution, the state coordinator of the Obedient movement, Vitus Anukanti, described the visit as part of ongoing outreach to political platforms that reflect the movement’s core values of competence, integrity, and good governance.

He stated that ADC’s openness and policy direction makes it a viable partner for constructive engagement.
