Bitget has announced the launch of the industry’s first Real-World Asset (RWA) Index Perpetual Contract, a new product that allows users to trade tokenised versions of traditional assets. The product went live on 20 August and marks an expansion of the exchange’s futures offerings.

The RWA Index Perpetual Contract begins with selected tokenised products including TSLAUSDT (RWA), NVDAUSDT (RWA), and CRCLUSDT (RWA). Each index is based on a composite of tokenised stock indices that are already circulating in the market. For example, the AAPL RWA Index Perpetual Contract may represent a mix of AAPL tokens issued by different third-party providers.

According to the leading crypto firm, the contract design draws similarities with existing crypto perpetual contracts. Index prices are determined by aggregating data from several issuers, with sources dynamically added or removed depending on market activity, trading volume, and liquidity conditions. Bitget also reserves the right to adjust and disclose index weightings when necessary.

“The contracts will trade on a 5×24 schedule, closing during weekends and stock market holidays. Market prices will remain frozen during closures to prevent liquidation, though users may add margin in preparation for possible market moves when trading resumes. New orders will not be accepted during closure periods, but order cancellations will remain open. Funding fees will also pause, resuming on an hourly cycle once the market reopens.

“In terms of user experience, Bitget stated that the new perpetuals follow the same mechanics and liquidation process as current crypto perpetual contracts. Risk management measures include a leverage cap of 10x, isolated margin mode only, and limits on open interest positions.”

Gracy Chen, Chief Executive Officer of Bitget, said the move reflects the company’s direction towards bridging traditional finance and decentralised finance. “Bitget thrives on innovation that stems from the emerging cryptospace. With the world’s first RWA Index Perpetual Contract, we are slowly transitioning into a comprehensive ecosystem of all things finance. This product shows the platform’s advancement as compared to other players, as it enables traders with exposure to a modern and traditional range of asset classes, bridging the gap between TradFi and DeFi.”

At launch, index pricing will be sourced from stock tokens issued on the xStocks platform. Bitget also plans to onboard additional issuers and expand the range of supported RWA perpetual contracts later this quarter.
