Cross River Residents Hail Governor Otu’s Development Strides, Fault Critics

Residents of Cross River State have commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for what they described as the administration’s developmental strides, urging critics to support ongoing efforts to transform the state rather than engage in what they termed unnecessary distractions.

The commendation follows criticism by some political opponents over projects being executed by the state government, particularly the newly constructed Cross River State House of Assembly Complex.

Speaking on the development, the Deputy Director of the Nigeria Bloggers Forum Association, Anthony Timothy, described the Assembly Complex as a world-class edifice that reflects Governor Otu’s vision to strengthen public institutions and improve governance.

According to him, the architectural design of the complex compares favourably with similar legislative buildings across the world and should be seen as a legacy project that will serve future generations.

He said rather than attracting criticism, the project deserved commendation as part of the government’s commitment to providing quality public infrastructure.

Timothy also applauded the governor for implementing projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, urban renewal and economic revitalisation.

He noted that the administration’s policies were gradually restoring public confidence in governance while positioning Cross River as an attractive destination for investment and tourism.

He added that ongoing road rehabilitation projects and other infrastructure investments would stimulate economic activities, create employment opportunities and improve the standard of living of residents.

While acknowledging that constructive criticism remains an essential component of democracy, Timothy urged political opponents to avoid actions capable of distracting the governor from delivering on his mandate.

He maintained that leadership should be assessed based on vision, commitment and tangible achievements, stressing that Governor Otu had demonstrated the determination to move Cross River State forward through sustainable development.

Timothy expressed optimism that with sustained public support and continued focus on governance, the Otu administration would deliver more transformative projects that would further improve the welfare of the people and strengthen the state’s economy.
