The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has expressed concerns over the recurring cases of building collapse across the country.

It blamed the trend largely on the engagement of unqualified practitioners and the refusal of some developers to comply with professional standards.

NIESV president, Mallam Bature Muhammad, spoke yesterday during a “Night of Tributes” held in honour of the institution’s late vice president, Emmanuel Mark at Omagwa in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.

Muhammad, who urged members of the institution to uphold professionalism, integrity and excellence in service, described the late Mark as an exceptional leader whose commitment to service, integrity and the advancement of the profession left an enduring legacy.
