The federal government has commended Elizade JAC Autoland Limited for its investments in Nigeria’s automotive sector, reaffirming its commitment to supporting local manufacturing and improving access to affordable brand-new vehicles.

The minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, gave the commendation during a visit to the company’s headquarters and assembly plant in Ikotun, Lagos, where she toured the facilities and inspected its assembly lines.

Dr Oduwole said the scale of investment and technological upgrades at Elizade JAC align with President Bola Tinubu’s industrialisation agenda. She noted that the company’s approach goes beyond vehicle assembly, highlighting its commitment to product quality, durability and accountability.

According to the minister, increased local vehicle production is critical to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported finished vehicles and strengthening the manufacturing base.

The managing director and chief executive officer of Elizade JAC Autoland, Demola-Ade Ojo, described the visit as timely, saying the company is focused on optimising its current operations while planning further expansion.

He said Nigeria’s auto market remains dominated by used vehicle imports primarily due to cost considerations. Still, he noted that Elizade JAC plans to intensify campaigns from 2026 to promote the benefits of new vehicles, including safety, environmental sustainability and economic value.

Executive director, Sales,  Biola Odukomaiya, said the company is positioning its vehicles as complete ownership packages rather than standalone products. He explained that customers benefit from bundled maintenance and after-sales support aimed at reducing concerns associated with owning new vehicles.

Odukomaiya added that by offering competitively priced vehicles with strong service backing, Elizade JAC aims to make brand-new vehicles more accessible to Nigerians.
