Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Professor Nentawe Yilwatda on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his appointment as a “bold reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to competence, grassroots connection, and internal reform.”
In a statement issued by the chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, Governor Radda commended the APC’s decision to elevate Prof. Yilwatda to the party’s highest leadership position, noting that it comes at a critical juncture in the party’s evolution and the nation’s political landscape.
“Prof. Yilwatda has consistently proven himself to be a forward-thinking leader with the intellectual depth and political maturity required to lead the APC at this defining moment in our national journey,” he stated.
He also saluted the new chairman’s rich background in academia, public service, and electoral management, noting that Yilwatda’s unique blend of experience will be instrumental in steering the APC toward a more responsive and people-centred direction.
Yilwatda, 56, is currently serving as Nigeria’s minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, a position he assumed in October 2024.
His professional journey includes a tenure as Resident Electoral commissioner in Benue State (2017–2021) and past roles as ICT director and lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi. He also contested for governor under the APC in Plateau State during the 2023 elections.
Governor Radda expressed confidence in the new chairman’s ability to foster greater party cohesion and inclusivity, urging him to deepen reforms and uphold ordinary Nigerians’ hopes.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Katsina State, I warmly congratulate Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him the wisdom, strength, and clarity needed as he takes on this critical national responsibility”, he said
