Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has expressed concern over false reports of an alleged abduction of pupils from a school in Doma local government of the state.
The governor in a statement by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Addra yesterday in Lafia said such unverified reports could undermine the prevailing peace in the state.
Some online outlets on Friday reported that bandits abducted pupils of St. Peter’s Academy, Rukubi in Doma local government area of the state.
However, in a swift reaction, the state police command through its spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel, denied the incident, describing the reports as malicious and false.
Governor Sule cautioned practitioners to refrain from engaging in misinformation which could exacerbate the already tense atmosphere created by the attacks and abduction of students and pupils in Niger and Kebbi states.
He enjoined citizens to disregard the reports and go about their normal businesses.
