A group, Plateau Progressive Ambassadors (PPA), has decried the growing trend of name-calling and attacks on a former governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang, over political interests.
PPA warned those behind the act to remember that what they are doing amounts to a betrayal of the land, stressing that posterity would judge them.
The group made their position known while addressing newsmen in Jos on Friday.
The leader of the group, Comrade Ayuba Dung who read the text of the press conference said Plateau State has suffered severe infiltrations which have largely contributed to the insecurity the state is currently facing.
Dung also cautioned against selfish political alliance by some elders which he said is inimical to democratic values, stressing that no individual, no matter how highly placed, can come from outside to install a governor for Plateau people.
“It has come to our notice that some elders and political stakeholders are allegedly working in alliance with external political interests to impose Chief Kefas Ropshik Kefiano as Governor of Plateau State in the 2027 general elections.
“Plateau State is not like other states. We believe power belongs to God, and He gives it to whoever that pleases him, not through imposition,” he said.
PPA further called on the elders and stakeholders allegedly involved in the secret act and political engineering to retrace their steps and join hands with Governor Caleb Mutfwang for rapid development of Plateau State.
