President Bola Tinubu has charged the Super Eagles to go all out and defeat the Zimbabwe Warriors in their FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to win the clash.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday during the official flag-off of the Torch of Unity Movement for the 22nd National Sports Festival, President Tinubu in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said the team carries the hopes of millions of Nigerians and must rise to the occasion.
“I extend my best wishes to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe in Uyo later today (Tuesday). I have no doubt they will make us proud,” the President said.
Tinubu also used the event to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to sports development, describing sports as a unifying force and a tool for youth engagement, national cohesion, and economic growth.
