Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has celebrated the strength, courage, tenacity and achievements of women and girls across Nigeria and around the world.

In a message to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day on March 8, the First Lady said she joined millions of Nigerians and the global community in marking the occasion.

She noted that this year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” highlights the importance of advancing the rights and opportunities of women and girls.

According to her, empowering women should not be seen as an act of charity but as an investment in the collective future.

She explained that giving women access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, leadership platforms, justice and equity leads to stronger families, more prosperous communities and a more inclusive nation.

The First Lady stressed the significance of women’s advancement in national development.

“When we give women access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, leadership platforms, justice and equity, we gain stronger families, more prosperous communities, and a more inclusive nation,” she said.

She added that the progress of women contributes to the progress of the country.

“When women rise, Nigeria rises,” she said.
