The Former Chairman of Niger state Universal Education Board and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Alhaji Mohammed Bawa Niworo has been released from Bandits captivity after spending 8 months.

LEADERSHIP gathered that Alhaji Niworo was released after paying N50 million in addition to the N30 million the family paid initially after he was abducted middle of September last year.

It was learnt that the release was sequel to a reduction of the ransom from initial N150 million demanded as ransom by the bandits when he was abducted after IBBU on New Bussa – Mokwa road in Borgu local government area of the state .

” They requested N150 million , we paid N30 million last year December, they refused to release him , they contacted us a week ago that we should pay additional N50 million because he was sick and threatened to kill him , we rally round and got the money which we paid yesterday and they released him about 6 pm” a family member who preferred anonymity confirmed.
