Chairman of Yauri local government area in Kebbi State, Hon. Abubakar Shuaibu, has imposed a curfew in the area following an unrest between youths involved in gold mining in Garin Katta community.
The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday.
The curfew is between 10: 00 pm and 7:00 am.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the chairman, after announcing the curfew, notified the police area commander and the Department of State Services (DSS) to enforce compliance and prevent the violence from escalating.
The chairman said he could not estimate the number of dead persons and properties destroyed.
