Nigeria’s football team, Mailantarki Care FC, made history by winning the Dana Cup championship after defeating Norwegian club, Lyngdal FC, 3-0 in the final match held at the Nord Energy Arena Stadium in Hjørring, Denmark.
According to a press statement issued by the team’s media manager, Adamu Usman Ahmed, Mailantarki Care FC’s Miko Dalha was the star player, scoring two goals and emerging as the highest goal scorer with 8 goals in the 2024 edition of the championship.
Another standout player was Tijjani Mohammed, a former Nigerian U-17 National team forward, who came off the bench in the second half and scored a goal, provided an assist, and won the best player’s award.
This victory marks the team’s second win over a Norwegian team, having previously beaten Vidar FK in the 2022 final.
As the reigning champions, Mailantarki Care FC will now head to Oslo to compete in the 2024 Norway Cup, starting on Sunday, July 28, 2024, where they are favored to win and achieve a double championship, a feat they also accomplished in 2022.
