Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commiserated with the Etsu Nupe and chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar over the demise of the Sonfada Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Mahmud Abubakar.
The Etsu Nupe had earlier expressed shock and sorrow over the death of Sonfada, his aide.
In his condolence message, the Etsu Nupe described the Mahmud, who died on Saturday in Bida, as a loyal, hardworking and dedicated personality who served the emirate with utmost commitment and sincerity.
“He was a man who showed genuine love and respect to people within our domain, irrespective of their tribe or religious inclination. His wise counsel, humility and commitment to service greatly contributed to the peace and unity we continue to enjoy in the emirate,” the Etsu Nupe said while announcing yesterday that the death of Sonfada
Meanwhile, the Niger state governor, in a condolence message through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the death of Sonfada as a colossal loss not only to the Nupe Kingdom, but the State at large.
He extended his commiserations to the entire Bida Emirate and the immediate family of the deceased and prayed that Allah forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him entry into Aljannat Firdausi.
The governor recalled the numerous contributions made by the late Sonfada in the development of the Nupe Kingdom and the State in general, adding that his efforts will always be acknowledged and re-echoed for many years to come.
