Kalamu was killed in the attack that occurred on Monday afternoon while working on his farm in the area.

The victim was said to have been caught unaware when the strayed-elephant invaded his farm and attacked him from which he later died from the injuries sustained while being rushed to the hospital.

LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the tragic incident, which occurred around 4:30.p.m has been a recurring incident in the community for over four years.

Some of the locals, who spoke with to our correspondent on phone said that particular elephant has been invading their community to destroy crops.

They also reported that the massive animal also often invade their fishing ponds without anyone having the courage to repel it before it finally claimed its first victim.

When contacted, the State Commissioner of Police, ‘Lanre Ogunlowo in a WhatsApp message on Tuesday, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the matter has been reported at the Ogbere Divisional Headquarters.

“The DPO Ogbere received information from Itasin community on 28/07/2025 at about 1620hrs that elephants escaped from government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu who died on the way to the hospital.
