Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major success in the ongoing counterinsurgency campaign against Boko Haram terrorists, following a well-coordinated offensive within the notorious Sambisa Forest.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, acting deputy director, Army Public Relations Headquarters, Theatre Command, Operation Hadin Kai, on Monday in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

The operation, which took place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in the Ladin Buttu area, a known Boko Haram enclave, resulted in the neutralisation of five insurgents after an intense firefight.

The troops, leveraging superior firepower and tactical precision, also recovered five fully loaded AK-47 magazines and other combat ordnance from the scene.

Military sources revealed that the operation formed part of a renewed push to dismantle terrorist strongholds and disrupt their logistics routes in the region.

Signs of blood were reportedly observed along the retreat paths of the fleeing insurgents, indicating that several others sustained gunshot wounds.

Ladin Buttu was considered a strategic hideout, often used by the insurgents to coordinate logistics and movements within the forest.

The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar has commended the troops for their bravery, discipline, and adherence to operational directives.

The recent engagement aligns with the renewed offensive strategy ordered by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, aimed at intensifying pressure on terrorist elements across all fronts.
