West Brom Sign Spanish Winger Kareem Tunde From Levante

West Bromwich Albion have completed their eighth signing of the summer transfer window with the permanent acquisition of Spanish winger Kareem Tunde from La Liga side Levante.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract with James Morrison’s Championship side as Albion strengthen their squad following an impressive start to the new campaign.

Tunde was in the stands at St James’ Park on Wednesday to watch his new teammates suffer a 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

He formally met the squad for the first time on Thursday and is now in contention to make his debut when West Brom host Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Baggies had begun the season strongly, beating Rotherham United in the Carabao Cup before securing Championship victories away to Norwich City and at home against Burnley.

Their unbeaten run came to an end against Newcastle, but the club remain encouraged by their early-season form.

Tunde said he was excited by the opportunity to experience football and life in a new country.

“This move is a chance for me to experience football and life in a new country and that is something that I’m really looking forward to,” he said.

“I know the group is in a really positive place right now and everyone has been really friendly to me since I arrived.

“I want to help the team by providing assists and scoring goals, and I can’t wait to get started and play in front of our fans.”

Tunde came through Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy before beginning his senior career with Levante.

He made 21 La Liga appearances last season as Levante battled to retain their top-flight status and was also named among the substitutes for their opening-day defeat at Espanyol on Sunday.

His arrival continues a busy recruitment drive by West Brom this summer.

The club have also brought back Conor Townsend from Ipswich Town, while goalkeeper Matt Ingram, defender Nolan Galves, midfielders Rabby Nzingoula and Felix Horn Myhre, and forwards Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan have joined the squad.

Tunde will now look to make an immediate impact as West Brom continue their Championship campaign against Middlesbrough, last season’s play-off finalists, at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
