The former Super Eagles handler however added that despite slim chance for their invitation, the NFF Technical Department is keeping tab on the exceptional players in the NNL and will be invited at the appropriate time. He pointed out invitation extended to Smart City’s player, who joined the Super Eagles B Team ahead of their clash with Ghana.

“You have to crawl before you walk.” Eguavoen told BSN Sports.

He added, “We are already looking into the NNL to invite quality players into Super Eagles. For instance, Afeez Bankole of Smart City was invited into CHAN Eagles and he showed high quality that one cannot differenciatte him from the NPFL players. Though, I am not sure whether he made the final list but he was in camp among the last set of players. That showed that we are monitoring exceptional players in the league (NNL).” Eguavoen said at the NNL Monthly Awards at the Glass House on Wednesday.

Austin Eguavoen as Interim Coach of Super Eagles guided Nigeria to picking the 2025 African Nations Cup ticket. The three times African champions will know their group opponents on Monday when CAF will conduct the draws in Morocco.
