My Administration Running Without Borrowing – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that his administration has been running smoothly without resorting to borrowing, thanks to its prudent management of the state’s resources.

This statement was made during a Christmas and New Year visit to the Governor by the College of Permanent Secretaries, led by the state Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko.

Oborevwori said that any future borrowing would be strictly tied to tangible and beneficial projects.

He stated, “We are among the few states that have not borrowed money since we came on board seven months ago. If we must borrow, we must borrow money that would be tied to projects and we will be very sure of the projects.”

Looking ahead to 2024, the Governor outlined his administration’s focus on consolidating the strong foundation laid in the previous months. He reaffirmed his commitment to the MORE agenda, a comprehensive plan aimed at delivering the fruits of democracy to every corner of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori placed a strong emphasis on accountability and quality control. He urged mandate officers in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to maintain strict adherence to standards before issuing clearance certificates to contractors for completed projects. This commitment to excellence ensures that every investment translates into tangible benefits for the people.

“Most of the achievements we have today, you people laid the foundation,” Governor Oborevwori acknowledged, addressing the College of Permanent Secretaries. “We planned ahead before the Commissioners came. I want to say that you contributed to the commendation we receive today in the country.”

Head of Service Bayoko, leading a delegation of 45 Permanent Secretaries and 15 Heads of Extra Ministerial Departments, expressed their gratitude for the Governor’s audience and praised his leadership.

“We have seen unprecedented development and your commitment towards the public service and your drive in ushering a new era of prosperity has been inspirational,” Bayoko stated. “As Civil Servants, we are the backbone of public administration and it is our solemn duty to implement your vision effectively and efficiently.”

“So, we stand here today, not just as your team, but also as committed individuals ready to take on the challenges that would come our way because we are inspired by your leadership.”
