Paris- based musician and vocal powerhouse, Jemiriye, is set to perform with her band at the Africa Oye festival in Liverpool, England today.
The Africa Oye, is the largest free gathering of African music and culture in the United Kingdom.
Other performers across the African continent for the two days jj888 making event, include ‘Jullian Marley and the Uprising’, Def Mama Def, Nyboma, Vox Sambou, Les Amazones D’Afrique, Papu Raf, Nyaya and Sole Rebel to name a few.

She said, “Working with the legendary Chaka Khan at the Meltdown Festival in London last week is a dream come true. Chaka has always been one of my music idols, someone I deeply respect and admire. It’s incredibly humbling to learn that she specifically chose our group because of her support for our message of women’s equality and the liberation from outdated cultural practices that no longer serve women in the 21st century.

Speaking on what she has been up to, the singer (Jemiriye Adeniji) noted that music is more than a career for her as it’s a tool for building bridges and changing the world one girl at a time via her ‘EWA Initiative’ non governmental organization.
“Currently, I’m on a global tur with Les Amazones d’Afrique, a group whose messages resonate deeply with my own. My mission has always been about spreading love and joy, advocating for female equality, and creating fair spaces for women in society.
Through my non-profit, EWA Global Initiative, we spotlight critical issues facing women in Africa, such as female genital mutilation and the importance of girls’ education.
“Joining Les Amazones d’Afrique has been a perfect fit, as their goals align with mine. Together, we’re amplifying the conversation about women’s rights and empowerment.
