Following comments made by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State over a successor who will sustain his legacy projects, a political group, Imo Harmony Project (IHP) has assured that the Imo East Senatorial zone is replete with enough talents capable to fill his shoes.

Convener cum chairman of IHP, Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho, made the disclosure at the weekend. The IHP is an umbrella body of the people of Owerri zone to occupy the Douglas House in January 2028.
Iheanacho said the IHP had noted Uzodimma’s concerns about a successor who will sustain the continuation of his legacy of people-centered development, saying Owerri zone had capable people who will continue even to a higher degree.

The former minister of Interior said “IHP notes the governor’s concern for the continuation of his legacy of people-centered development and would like to assure him that Owerri zone is replete with talents capable of taking governance to a greater pedestal that would make the state and its citizens truly proud”.

The IHP congratulated Uzodimma on the conception and delivery of the state of the Imo state address, saying it was a verifiable catalogue of the laudable achievements by the current Imo state administration since its ascension to the governance of the state and that it encapsulated the governor’s vision for the state.

Iheanacho said “with the litany of projects completed and ongoing in the state, skeptics have been proven wrong by the bold and transformative initiatives across different sectors which have continued to earn the administration accolades while renewing the confidence of Imolites in the delivery of the dividends of democracy. As you continue on this trajectory, be rest assured of our support and cooperation.

“As the government continues with its development strides, the IHP remains committed to the governor’s goal of achieving inclusive governance through the

Imo charter of equity. In our view, beyond the massive changes to the infrastructure landscape, the successful implementation of the charter would be

the governor’s greatest legacy. We urge the governor to remain steadfast in his commitment to the charter despite distractions from those who seem not to

appreciate the value of peaceful and harmonious coexistence”, the IHP said.

The Imo charter of equity signed by leaders of the different zones and ratified by the Imo Council of Elders stipulates that Owerri zone will succeed Uzodimma in 2028 as the only zone that had spent less than 12 months as governor, as Okigwe zone had four years and Orlu zone would have held power for 24 years put together.
