An Anti-Crime Squad of the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of 80-year-old Mrs Theresa Igbojonu.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the victim, a native of Umunwaji Village in Ihiala, Ihiala local government area of the state was murdered on 5th April, 2025.
Mrs Igbojonu’s assailants reportedly tied her two legs and gagged her mouth before killing the victim and also made away with her CG motorcycle.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu who confirmed the incident on Tuesday gave the names of the suspects as Chidiebere Igboanugo and Emma Ibeabuchi, all males from the same village with the victim.
SP Ikenga said the two suspects were cooling off their heels at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Amawbia awaiting to be charged to court.
He further disclosed that police operatives have launched a manhunt for two other suspects, Alla and Emeka who are currently on the run.
Ikenga stated that the deceased woman’s stolen CG motorcycle has been recovered by the police from one of the arrested suspects, Chidiebere at Ezego Junction in Ihiala when he was sighted riding on it by the deceased woman’s son.
The state police spokesperson stressed that investigation has commenced into the murder.
