The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has extended his congratulations to the United States Republican candidate, Donald Trump, on his projected victory in the 2024 US presidential election.
While votes were still being counted, Trump was projected to win key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina—crucial states that have tipped the race in his favour.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Starmer described Trump as ‘President-elect’, praising his victory and expressed his eagerness to collaborate in the coming years.
“Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead,” Starmer wrote.
He further highlighted the long-standing alliance between the UK and the US, adding, “As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.”
Starmer expressed confidence that the relationship between the two nations would continue to thrive, stating, “From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”
